How You Can Assist

Since Snow's disappearance, we have distributed hundreds of flyers to homes within a few blocks our house. We have received many leads from neighbors who sent photos and videos from mobile phones and home doorbell cameras of possible sightings. Unfortunately, we haven't found her. We now believe that if Snow were within a few blocks, she would have found her way home by now. Therefore, we suspect she may have been displaced far from home into unfamiliar territory. Consequently, we are expanding the search area to a radius of about one mile.

You can aid in the search by keeping an eye out for Snow if you live, work, attend school, or visit places of worship within the search radius. Doorbell and security cameras have proven to be effective tools in spotting missing pets. If your property is equipped with these devices, please review any relevant footage. Additionally, you can share with friends and family about the website HelpFindSnow.com. This website will serve as a staging point for our search efforts.

Background

Snow has been missing since Saturday January 11th, 2025, following a violent gusting wind that disturbed her hut the preceding night. We believed that the distressing event caused her to flee to unfamiliar surroundings.

Snow is an outdoor cat, a former stray or feral that has lived in our neighborhood for many years. Since autumn 2023, she has found shelter in our garden/yard and has formed a strong bond with our family. Normally, she remains within our yard and occasionally ventures around Johnson Rd, Madison Rd, White Rd, Clarence Rd, Sprague Rd, within the area bordered by Hutchinson River, Scarsdale Blvd, Locust Rd. Despite her outdoor nature, Snow always returns home daily.

Snow holds a special place in our hearts and is dearly missed.

How to Locate Snow

Understanding the habits of outdoor/feral cats can be beneficial. Two crucial aspects to note: they seek warmth like most creatures; second, they like to stay hidden because of their survival instincts.

Snow is active in the morning, approximately two hours after sunrise as she tries to catch sunlight for warmth. She prefers a spot backing up to a corner or structure, with a clear view of her surroundings, and have direct sunlight exposure. When the weather becomes too warm, she hides in shaded area, such as underneath plants or bushes.

The second most likely times to find Snow are 2-3 hours before sunrise (4-5am) and 3-4 hours after sunset (9-10pm). These are times with fewer humans around, when cats roam around, explore their surroundings, mark their boundaries.

For these reasons, aside from chance encounters, the best opportunity to locate Snow is through home security cameras that are widespread nowadays.
